Individual

• Academy of Science & Engineering Swenson College of Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota Duluth · 2009 · inducted at my undergraduate institution
• Outstanding Junior Investigator U.S. Department of Energy, High Energy Physics · 1984 · held while an Assistant Professor at Harvard and a Scientific Associate at CERN

Collaboration awards

• Lancelot M. Berkeley – New York Community Trust Prize American Astronomical Society · 2026 · to the DESI Collaboration, for creating the largest three-dimensional map of the universe and enabling the study of dark energy over cosmic time · the prize lecture was given on the collaboration’s behalf by Daniel Eisenstein at the 247th AAS meeting, Phoenix, January 2026
• Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics Breakthrough Prize Foundation · 2025 · to the co-authors of the LHC experiments’ publications based on Run 2 data released between 2015 and 15 July 2024
• High Energy and Particle Physics Prize European Physical Society · 2013 · to the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, for the discovery of a Higgs boson as predicted by the Brout–Englert–Higgs mechanism
