The Moscow invitation came from Lev Okun and the laboratory director, Michael Danilov. Years earlier, when the LHC was not yet a project and we were designing a detector for the 40 TeV machine, Okun gave a five-slide talk on supercollider physics. Of the zillion talks I have heard on the subject since, not one has been as clear, as informative, and as void of nonsense. I showed those five slides again at the colloquium, to Okun’s amusement. Their lesson: collide Ws and Zs at a TeV or so and we will learn something exciting — but if we are lucky, we may learn something exciting well before reaching the unitarity limit.
